Restructuring, Resolving and Rebuilding: U.S. Banking 2010

On Tuesday, October 13, 2009, R. Chris Whalen will present Restructuring, Resolving and Rebuilding: U.S. Banking 2010 at Indiana State University in the Hulman Memorial Student Union Dede II.  There will be a reception from 4:30 - 5:00 p.m. followed by the lecture with Q&A session from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

About the Presentation:

Chris Whalen will discuss the most pressing issues facing the financial services industry today.  In his spring campus visit to ISU in 2008, before the worst of the financial crisis, Whalen outlined the causes and consequences of the subprime mortgage crisis and some necessary steps to avoid future crises.  In the aftermath of the breakdown of financial markets in fall 2008, it is time to take a harder look at where we are in the crisis and where the industry is headed.  Whalen will discuss some pressing questions regarding today's financial services industry.  Is the financial crisis over?  What other shoes are left to drop?  Have there been, or will there be, any lasting effects on industry structure, performance or risk?  How has the market response to the financial crisis changed the U.S. banking industry?  How many U.S. banks will be resolved and/or restructured in 2010 and through the credit cycle?  How will the likely regulatory response from Washington affect bank business models, depositors and investors in 2010 and beyond?
